Allied Health Under One Roof in Calgary: Coordinated Physiotherapy, Chiro, Massage, and More

Access all allied health services through one Primaris membership

Allied health under one roof at Primaris Health in Calgary means physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, naturopathy, fitness training, and dietary support all delivered within a shared clinical record, coordinated by a registered nurse care manager, and connected to your private healthcare plan.

No external referrals, no fragmented records, no plan that loses coherence across hand-offs. Every Primaris membership includes full access to this integrated allied private health team with no visit cap within clinically appropriate parameters.

This page explains what the Primaris allied health team includes, who provides each service, and why coordinated allied health produces outcomes that siloed care, however individually excellent, cannot match.

The Primaris Allied Health Team

Dr. Michael Lau DC: Chiropractic

Dr. Lau completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology with Distinction at the University of Calgary and his Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. His early clinical work in the Dominican Republic and internationally broadened his range across complex musculoskeletal presentations. His practice focus at Primaris covers posture correction, shoulder pain, and chronic spine conditions, the most common presentations among professional adults.

Dr. Madison Thorne ND: Naturopathy and Nutrition

Dr. Thorne's full-time naturopathic practice focuses on women's hormonal health and general naturopathic medicine. A CCNM graduate with a background in kinesiology and exercise physiology, she brings a grounded, evidence-informed approach that is directly complementary to the medical team, particularly for patients managing hormonal concerns, metabolic health, and the nutritional dimensions of chronic conditions.

Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and Fitness Training

Massage therapy and acupuncture are included in Primaris membership as full-access treatments with no rigid session cap. In-house fitness training is provided by certified professionals whose programming is informed by the clinical findings of the broader team. Diet and meal planning is coordinated through the naturopathic team and dietary consultation resources, with plans designed around individual metabolic findings and health goals.

Why Coordinated Allied Health Outperforms Siloed Care

The evidence on integrated care is consistent: coordination improves outcomes across most clinical areas. For chronic pain, integrated physiotherapy and psychological support reduces disability and medication use more effectively than either alone. For metabolic conditions, nutrition and exercise interventions are more effective when built around the same clinical data. For post-injury rehabilitation, coordinated chiropractic, physiotherapy, and medical management produces faster return to function than any single modality in isolation.

The mechanism is straightforward: shared information enables consistent plans. When the physiotherapist knows that a patient's low back pain is associated with hip complex weakness identified in the fitness assessment, the physiotherapy protocol changes. When Dr. Lau knows that neck tension has a sleep and stress component that Dr. Thorne is addressing, the chiropractic plan is calibrated accordingly. When the naturopath identifies a nutritional gap with hormonal implications, the physician team is immediately informed through the shared record.

The Care Manager as Coordination Infrastructure

The element that makes integrated allied health actually work in practice rather than in theory is the Personal Care Manager. At Primaris, care managers are registered nurses who actively track every element of the care plan. When a physician initiates a physiotherapy referral, the care manager books it, communicates clinical context, and follows up. When a treatment course is complete, the care manager coordinates the reassessment. When a patient is managing physiotherapy, chiropractic, and nutritional interventions simultaneously, the care manager ensures no element stalls and no provider is working with outdated information.
