Matt has been a registered nurse for 10 years, and has had experience in both family medicine and trauma services at Foothills Medical Centre. Matt completed a masters thesis in immunology and has a blended understanding of acute care, discharge health management, upstream healthcare theory, evidence-based practice, and the importance of the immune system in health and sickness. Matt’s unique academic and work experience has taught him how to holistically manage medically complex cases through the development of thoughtful and detailed care plans that work in collaboration with allied services and the patients themselves
Apeksha Heendeniya is the Chief Operating Officer, leveraging experience across government, Health Authorities, and non-profit health organizations. Apeksha holds a Masters from the University of Saskatchewan, grounding her approach in health policy and systemic thinking. With a proven track record in operations, quality improvement, and business development, she specializes in building efficient systems that elevate patient care. Apeksha is dedicated to ensuring the operational infrastructure of Primaris Health flawlessly supports the collaborative work of the medical team.
Dr. Dan Chen is a family physician, obesity medicine specialist, and longevity-focused health leader dedicated to transforming the way we think about wellness. With over a decade of clinical experience and advanced training from Harvard, A4M, and the University of Florida, Dr. Chen has helped thousands of patients achieve sustainable health, vitality, and confidence.
Her work bridges evidence-based medicine with cutting-edge innovation - from hormone optimization and CGM-guided nutrition, to digital health tools that reduce burnout and improve care. Whether she is leading clinical teams, supporting women and men through midlife transitions, or guiding patients toward long-term weight and disease prevention goals, her mission is the same: To empower people to feel well, live well, and age with strength - not fear.

Dr. Brenden Kunimoto is a rurally trained family physician who graduated with honours in chemistry (BSc), then completed a combined MD/MBA degree and a residency in Family Medicine (CCFP) at the University of Alberta. During his studies, he contributed to multiple peer-reviewed academic publications, and he has also been certified in various clinical domains, including point-of-care ultrasound, Botox for migraines, and dermatological care. Over the years, Brenden has honed his leadership skills. For example, while in training, he served on various university committees and was elected as the Arts & Humanities representative for Health and Medicine.
His leadership contributions have been recognized through several awards. He has also gained experience in consulting through projects for non-profit healthcare-adjacent organizations, and he was a member of the winning team in an international healthcare competition, where he eventually pitched the winning solution to Pfizer.
Brenden is an avid entrepreneur. He has contributed to the creation of a successful e-commerce brand and is an angel investor in a local software start-up. Brenden has experience as the medical director of Calgary's busiest public clinic and will bring his organizational skills, leadership, and healthcare experience to our team at Primaris.

Dr. Aliya Jamal is a Family Doctor. Practicing at a family doctor practice in Calgary, AB, she is dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive, and patient-centered family medical care. She is registered with The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and practices in accordance with the standards set by this regulatory body and the principles of modern family medicine. Her focus is providing continuous and comprehensive primary medical care for individuals and families across all ages and stages of life. This includes preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and management of ongoing health needs, serving as the central point for patient care. She serves patients of all ages, from newborns and infants through to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

As a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a robust background in both nursing and advanced clinical practice, Jeet Chakrabarti, NP, brings a comprehensive, patient-centred approach to healthcare. With a career spanning over a decade, he has cultivated a rich expertise in nephrology, transplant, and trauma services. Jeet is committed to holistic family-based practice and provides collaborative, patient-centred care for patients of all ages. He ensures that each individual's unique needs and preferences are at the forefront of his practice. Jeet is fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali, and Urdu, enabling him to connect with a diverse patient population and enhance the quality of care and patient satisfaction.
Beyond his professional life, Jeet is passionate about tennis, music, the outdoors, and gardening, which enrich his personal well-being and contribute to his holistic approach to patient care. Jeet's goal is to continue delivering compassionate, culturally competent care while fostering strong collaborative relationships within the healthcare team.
Marianne knows that the success of Primaris - Dermatology is defined by patient care, and as such, works diligently to ensure that the relationships between all staff and patients are built upon expertise, trust, open-communication, and state-of-the-art technology. Marianne was born in Ottawa, ON, and is a graduate of the University of Calgary. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Education and completed her high school English teacher practicum program. Marianne has spent most of her career in the oil and gas industry and after twenty years of the high paced race. Marianne is a self-motivated, data-driven, and results-focused leader who thrives on developing future leaders, improving culture, and focusing on innovative business solutions to help organizations enhance bottom line objectives. Marianne serves as the liaison between management, clinical staff, and community.
Dr. Paul Lubitz is a Royal College-accredited Dermatologist, Board Certified in both Canada and the United States, who currently practices in Canmore, Alberta, at his Art of SKIN Dermatology and DermaSpa. Dr. Lubitz joined Primaris because he believes that he can better serve patients and build a healthier community by working together with a larger team of allied health professionals.
Extensively trained by national and international masters in all areas of modern Dermatology, from medical management and disease prevention, to cancer surgery, to the most advanced techniques of cosmetic and laser surgery and skin enhancement, Dr. Lubitz provides his patients with a wide range of advanced diagnostic and treatment options for a variety of medical, surgical and cosmetic skin diseases and concerns. He has particular interests in skin cancer detection and surgery, advanced laser surgery, skin rejuvenation with volumetric fillers, neuromodulators, and skin tightening procedures, as well as both surgical and nonsurgical fat reduction techniques.

Dr. Madison Thorne is a registered naturopathic doctor. She obtained her naturopathic medical degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Madison holds a full-time practice in general naturopathic medicine with a focus on women's hormonal health.
Dr. Thorne provides her patients with evidence-informed, individualized care, tailoring treatment plans to meet their unique needs. She understands that healthcare is not a one-size-fits-all approach and acknowledges the diversity of her patients' backgrounds, health conditions, and preferences.
Madison discovered her path to naturopathic medicine through her background in the fitness industry. From a young age, she has nurtured a deep passion for health, fitness, and nutrition, particularly in running and athletics. These passions drove her to pursue a degree in kinesiology, immersing herself in the study of the human body and exercise physiology. As she navigated both academic and practical experiences, she encountered numerous individuals with various health concerns who required support. These experiences inspired her to become a naturopathic doctor with a focus on optimizing health for women.
Dr. Michael Lau’s journey into chiropractic care began as a university student when he struggled with chronic low back and neck pain. After experiencing the life-changing benefits of chiropractic treatment firsthand, he knew he had found his calling.
Michael completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology with Distinction at the University of Calgary, then earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He spent his early years volunteering in the Dominican Republic and other parts of the world, providing care to underserved communities and gaining valuable experience in treating a wide range of conditions.
Today, he focuses on helping patients with poor posture, shoulder pain, and chronic spine conditions. His goal is simple: to help you move better, feel better, and get back to doing the things you love.
Dr. Yu completed his Doctor of Optometry in Chicago in 2010 and has been practicing to the full scope of his license in Canada ever since. He has recently moved his practice to Calgary and brings 15 years of experience to the Primaris team. He is fully capable of everything from eye exams and lens fittings to post-op surgical management.
